VELOCITY 2013 – SANTA CLARA and PLEASANTON, Calif. – June 19, 2013 – Site24x7 , the cloud infrastructure monitoring service from ManageEngine, today announced the launch of Site24x7 APM Insight, the industry’s first end–to–end web application performance monitoring service. Site24x7 APM Insight reinforces the proven Site24x7 website monitoring service with detailed application-level monitoring to give IT departments complete visibility into application behavior, enabling rapid isolation and resolution of performance issues affecting the end users’ experience. Site24x7 also announced the release of its Linux server monitoring feature.

Today’s announcements were made at Velocity 2013 being held June 18–20 in Santa Clara, California. A silver sponsor of the show, Site24x7 is exhibiting in booth 418.

The commodity hardware used to scale software-as-a-service and web apps is forcing development teams to use more specialized components for various application functions. As a result, developers and other IT staff seeking to quickly troubleshoot and optimize their web app must have insight into all aspects of that app, from the end user’s application experience to performance of the application’s underlying database. Holistic, end-to-end web app monitoring improves productivity and gives developers unprecedented visibility into performance bottlenecks.

Companies delivering SaaS and cloud apps can’t afford to deliver inconsistent performance, said Gibu Mathew, director of product management for Site24x7. But those apps are being delivered into a variety of devices and built using an often-complex variety of cloud technologies, which makes nailing down performance bottlenecks a real challenge. With Site24x7 APM Insight, we’re delivering an industry-first, end-to-end solution that combines user experience monitoring from around the world with agent-based server monitoring, resources monitoring inside the data center LAN, and now application-level monitoring to ensure our customers can track all of the moving parts in their cloud apps and deliver the best possible experience to their users.

Inside Site24x7 APM Insight

Site24x7 monitors websites and web applications from 40 locations around the world to help companies ensure optimal end-user experience, regardless of the end user’s location. In addition, Site24x7 offers agent-based server monitoring to let companies track the availability and performance of their backend servers, identify usage patterns and plan resource requirements. Site 24x7 also takes advantage of its cloud-friendly architecture to monitor the uptime of other internal devices that support these applications in the data center.

The market response to the core Site24x7 services has been enthusiastic. Site24x7 added 1,300 new customers in 2012, and revenues have been growing at 100 percent CAGR for the past several years.

Site24x7 APM Insight builds on those core services to provide developers with unmatched visibility into end-to-end web app behavior, including performance metrics of all web transaction components starting from URLs to SQL queries. Site24x7 APM Insight supports Java, .NET and Ruby on Rails web transactions and gives a holistic application monitoring experience by keeping track of application response time, Apdex score, throughput, transaction traces and database operations.

In action, Site24x7 APM Insight can help an ecommerce website precisely optimize response times to customers using desktop, laptop and mobile devices. Site24x7 server monitoring provides deeper detail about individual Windows and Linux servers running the ecommerce app while the APM Insight functionality provides transaction visibility and application-level insights that allow further performance tuning and problem resolution.

Highlights of Site24x7 APM Insight include:

  • Visibility into the way web applications behave for end users
  • Comprehensive, end-to-end transaction awareness across entire infrastructure
  • Isolation of performance issues to accelerate resolution
  • Ability to drill down to the root cause of problems quickly and perform first-level troubleshooting
  • Visual representations of performance metrics for all application components, from URLs to SQL queries
  • Apdex scores to measure user satisfaction and transaction tracing
  • Transaction trace histories to help identify and resolve performance degradation, regardless of origin

We just started using APM Insight from Site24x7 to monitor our .NET applications, said Stephen Fitzgerald, manager, monitoring and NOC at Ascend Learning. I must say I am pleased with the kind of visibility it allowed into my web transactions. I have already used the synthetic monitors, but APM Insight gives a different dimension for my developers, one that provides more visibility into slow database queries and methods. The pricing looks compelling, too.

Linux Server Monitoring

To expand its server monitoring capabilities, Site24x7 now features an agent-based Linux server monitoring feature. The new feature provides insight into the status and performance of servers running web applications. In particular, Site24x7 can now monitor critical metrics such as CPU usage, memory, disk, processes and network utilization for Linux machines and get instant alerts via SMS/email/RSS/Twitter whenever resources cross the set threshold limits.

Pricing and Availability

Site24x7 APM Insight is available immediately and included in the Site24x7 Enterprise Edition. If purchased as a standalone feature, Site24x7 APM Insight is priced at $9 per instance per month. Site24x7 Linux server monitoring is available immediately for $5 per server per month. Contact Site24x7 support at www.site24x7.com/contact-support.html for more details.
